It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce
that our matriarch and light of our lives,
Balkis Goria Mika unexpectedly and untimely joined the Lord on January 18, 2021.
Balkis is predeceased by her parents Goria and Wareena Akash.
She is the loving wife of Hazim Mika.
The amazing mother of Amanda, Valerie (Qusay)
Mikhael, Dominic, and Antonio Mika.
And doting grandmother of Isabelle Mikhael.
She is the beloved sister of Sabri Akash, the late Madeline, Amel, Paul, Akash, the late Adel, Samira, Munther, Imad, Moaid, Ihsan and Adnan.
Balkis was born in Baghdad, Iraq. She moved to London, England in 1981 and then moved to Michigan in 1984. She met the love of her life Hazim Mika in December 1984 and they married on September 8, 1985. She had her first born in 1986 and later in 1988, 1996, and in 1997 her youngest completed the family. She was dedicated to her children and her family. She volunteered in numerous organizations including Compassion Pregnancy Center, St. Vincent De Paul Society pantries, the PBJ Outreach with Holy Martyrs Chaldean Catholic Church, and was an International Women's Tea hostess. She was an avid world traveler visiting over 20 countries. In addition to her most important role as mother she was an ally, confidante, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. An excellent cook, Balkis was passionate about bringing family together and hosting gatherings. She had a contagious smile, a joyous, exuberant, funny personality, and was an angel of love. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, taking precautions and remaining safe is a priority to us all. Therefore, the use of masks and social distancing are required.
The family apologizes for not accepting guests at their home.
They will accept your condolences via phone calls, social media messages, and texts.
