Dear family and friends, we regret to inform you of the loss of the beloved Rev. Emmanuel Rayes.
Son of the late Daoud and the late Shamiran Rayes.
Brother of the late Michael Rayes, the late Phillip Rayes, the late Robert Rayes, Julie Kado and Youkhana Rayes.

Fr. Rayes was born in Aradan, Iraq in 1930. He studied at St. John Dominican Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 1954. He ministered in northern Iraq from 1954 - 1963, in Syria and Lebanon from 1963 - 1980, and in the United States from 1980 to present day. From 1980 - 1983, he was appointed associate pastor at Mother of God Parish in Southfield, MI. From 1983 - 1989 he served as pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Detroit, MI. From 1990 - 1991 he ministered to the Chaldean community in Farmington Hills, and was at St. Joseph Parish in Troy where he was Parochial Vicar until 2000. He has been retired since 2001. Rev. Rayes was the author of many articles in Arabic and the former editor-in-chief of Al-Mishal and Al-Tariq magazines. He had translated many books from French and English into Arabic.
