Obituary

Dr. Fawzi Basheer Shaya was born in Mosul, Iraq on September 3, 1943; his parents were Basheer and Fathela.  He had seven siblings: Hazim, Aziz, Evelyn, Hikmat, Fakhre, Ramsey, and Hana.   In Iraq, he graduated from the University of Baghdad with his DVM where he was valedictorian of his class.   The Iraqi government sent him to the United States on a scholarship in July 1966.   He graduated with high honors from the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor with a Masters in Pathology.

Fawzi married Georgette Elias Shaya on August 31, 1969 and together they had four children; Stephen, Christopher, Julian, and Charlene.  Fawzi has seven grandchildren.

Fawzi was a serial entrepreneur with a big heart.  He was known for his kindness, compassion, and unending willingness to listen to his friends and family.  He always focused on helping others and his greatest legacy was founding J & B Medical- a mission driven global healthcare company.   J & B Medical's focus is providing healthcare to the indigent and elderly.

His greatest joy was being able to work with his children while providing care to others.

Fawzi died peacefully in his home with his wife by his side on November 23, 2020.

In lieu of flowers we thought it best to continue his legacy by donating to "The Providence HOPE Fund."  This fund helps with the purchase of medication, meal tickets, cab vouchers, small equipment, and more, for our patients as determined by the social work and nursing departments.

For online donations, please go to stjohnprovfoundations.org/donate , and in the drop down, select "other" and type HOPE Fund in the designation box.

Thank You and May God Bless You

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
Thy Kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil;
for thine is the Kingdom and the Power,
and the Glory, for Ever and Ever.
Amen
