Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of our beloved Father Paul Bashi.
Fr. Bashi was predeceased by his parents, Hermez and Shamia Bashi; his brother, Hana Bashi; his brother, Jergis Bashi; his sister, Naema Bashi Zoma; and his brother, Nathem Bashi.
He is survived by his brother Yousif Bashi, 28 nieces/nephews, 85 great nieces/nephews and 84 great, great nieces/nephews.
Fr. Bashi was born in Telkaif, Iraq. He entered the Seminary in 1948. In 1950, he moved to Rome to further advance his studies, completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, where he was ordained a priest in 1954.  Fr. Bashi received a Master's and a Doctorate degree in Theology in 1957. After his return from Rome to Iraq, he served at St. Peter Patriarchate Major Seminary in Mosul until 1959.
From 1959 to 1967 Fr. Bashi served in Baghdad in Iraq, Aleppo in Syria, and Beirut in Lebanon.
In 1967, Fr. Bashi was transferred to the Latin Rite, he was incardinated in the dioceses of Marseille- France where he served several parishes until his retirement; among which Eglise Saint Victor and Chapelin a Notre-Dame de la Garde churches.
In 2007, Fr. Bashi helped establish the first Chaldean Church in Marseille, France: Paroisse Norte-Dame de Chaldee.
Fr. Bashi served the Lord everywhere his spiritual assistance was requested throughout Europe and in the United States. Fr. Bashi periodically served the Chaldean Community in Michigan during his annual visits in the last decade, mainly at St. Joseph Chaldean Catholic Church in Troy Michigan.
Fr. Bashi was an inspiration for all to pursue a higher faith in God.
May our Lord Grant him eternal joy in His glorious kingdom.

Due to the ongoing pandemic,
we understand taking precautions
and remaining safe is a priority to us all.
Therefore, the use of masks and social distancing are required.

Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, the family apologizes for not accepting guests at their home.
They will accept your condolences via phone calls, social media messages and texting.

At the families request any gift of flowers can be sent to
the church the day of the funeral.
