IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Donald
Lawley Do
January 11, 1927 – December 13, 2020
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the loss of our beloved
Dr. George Donald Lawley DO.
George was born January 11, 1927 in Bessemer, Alabama.
As an adolescent, he moved to
Detroit, Michigan
where he graduated from Wilbur Wright High School.
He went on to receive
his Pharmacy degree from Wayne State University.
After marrying the love of his life, Doris (Doetsch) in 1951,
George attended Chicago College of
Osteopathic Medicine
where he earned his DO. degree.
George and Doris shared 69 years of marriage that blessed
them with 6 children, 23 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
George was a physician and the longest staff member at Garden City Hospital,
beginning in
1958 in General Practice. George served the community,
and his patients in every way from surgery
to delivering babies,
and as former Chief of Staff. His love for medicine and his patients
motivated him to practice until just weeks before he passed.
George enjoyed his love of golf with friends and family
at Western Golf and Country Club for
over 49 years.
It was here in 1979 that he won the WG&CC Club Championship.
If asked, George would say that his most cherished memories
were of those of his family.
Celebrating birthdays, witnessing baptisms and weddings,
watching his grandchildren and great
grandchildren play in his pool,
and especially sharing the holidays is what he held close to his
heart and gave him joy.
He had an amazing sense of humor and was a joke teller
extraordinaire.
