The family of Glenn Nelson Barnhart
Have requested that A memorial visitation
take place Wednesday May 20, 2015
from the hours of 3:00 to 8:00 Pm.
at Southfield Funeral Home.
A committal service will be conducted
Thursday May 21, 2015 at 11:00 Am. at
Great Lakes National Cemetery

Glenn Nelson Barnhart "Barney",
A native of Detroit, Michigan died on May 15, 2015 in Clarkston, MI. Leaving behind his loving wife Judith Barnhart and his children Douglas, Gordon, Patrick and Diane Brady, Colleen and John Ontko and Elizabeth Brady-Marasco and loving grandchildren, Darci, Samantha,Teddy, Sullivan, Guido and Antonio and great grandchildren Audrey, Carter, Marleigh, Caroline and Brady.
Glenn was preceded in death by his loving parents
Harvey and Margaret Barnhart,
Glenn's daughter Sandy, grandson Joey and son in law Guido.
Born on July 4, 1925, he lived life with a passion for his country, family, friends and racecars.
Serving in the United States Marine Corp during World War II,
Glenn received a Purple Heart for his bravery during the
Battle of Peleliu.
Glenn was always dedicated to his country and family.
Glenn's passion for cars lead to a 30 year career at General Motors.
He was among the reputable racecar drivers in the 1950s. Including taking the role as the racecar driver for
GM's Hudson across the United States and the Mexican Road Rally. After retirement from GM, his entrepreneurial spirit lead him to open and operate multiple automotive based businesses, including Glenn's Airport Shell in Waterford Mi.
Glenn was a true Yankee Doodle - Born on the Fourth of July. He will be missed greatly
"Forever in our hearts".
