GLENN EDWARD LEE (MAJ. Retired)
Farmington Hills, MI – Glenn E. Lee, 78, died on January 4, 2021 after several years of battling cancer. He was born December 24, 1942 in Magee, Mississippi, the son of Ely Lee and WillaBelle Smith (Rankin). Glenn graduated from Northwestern High School, Magna Cum Laude, Class of 1962. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, attended Officer Candidate School and served with the 101 st Airborne Division. He was also in the Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Major. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal and numerous medals/awards for his meritorious service in the military. Glenn was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired after 41 years of service. He worked his way up from mail carrier to Manager, Labor Relations during his postal career. Glenn also served for more than 35 years on the Board of Directors of what is now Zeal Credit Union. He was an avid bowler and was awarded a 300-game ring. Glenn leaves behind his wife, Ella to whom he was married for 47 years, daughter Glenda (TX), foster nieces Lisa Ortiz (NJ), Racquel (Rocky) Ortiz (MI), sister, Sherrie Brannon, two half-brothers, Fulton Smith (son Douglas), Calvin Smith (wife Rosecile, daughters Krystal and Kyla). Additional survivors include nieces Del Ortiz, Carmen Frohman, Amber (Lee) O'Brien, Dawn Lee, Sabrina Lee, Kerren Lee and nephew Jose Ortiz. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Patricia Jean Ortiz and brother, Robert M.D. Lee. Glenn will be cremated and buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery located in Holly, Michigan.
