Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of the beloved Louise Ethel Manuel.

Louise Ethel Manuel (most commonly called "Lois" but also known as "Mama", "Grandma", and "Gee-Gee") was born to Jacob and Ethel Whitfield on Thursday, September 1, 1921, in Columbus, Mississippi, followed by two brothers, Wiley James and Sam Hair (who both preceded her in death) and one sister, Elizabeth. Lois worked at Herman Kiefer Hospital during World War II where she cared for patients with tuberculosis. In 1945, Lois married Moses Manuel and to that union they had three daughters. As a wife and homemaker, Lois tended to her family; which she did with true loving care. She was a life-long caretaker of her siblings, children, grandchildren and others. Lois loved to travel and was blessed to enjoy over 99 years of life. Those around her were equally blessed to have her in their lives as well. Lois departed this life to move on to the next on Monday, January 18, 2021, with her family around her. She went to sleep; and now rests with the Lord and her loved ones who left before her. She will always live, and never die, because she lives within each and every one of us. Lois leaves to mourn her departure: her sister, "Betty" Gibbs; her daughters Veronica Clemens, Valerie Williams (and her husband, Leon), and Diane Tunstall; her grandchildren Montina Duncan (who preceded her in death), Ronald Stewart (and his fiancé, Myskeshia), Zanetta Stewart, Nikiana Sell (and her husband, Douglas), and Jovaughn Nicholson (and her husband, Michael); her greatgrandchildren Tyreese Duncan, Kylie, Torie and Zaria Nicholson, and Olivia Sell; her cousin Martha, her dear friend Doris, and a host of nieces and nephews.

and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil;
for thine is the Kingdom and the Power,
and the Glory, for Ever and Ever.
