Obituary

We regret to inform you of the loss of the beloved Nadira Kassab Dalaly.

Nadira Kassab Dalaly was born on December 26, 1939, in Telkeppe, Iraq, to farmers Aziz and Jamila Bet-Shamouni Kassab. She was the second oldest of six children. She was her father's helper on the farm, and after his untimely death, her family moved to Baghdad, where, as a youngster, she helped take care of her siblings while her mother worked to support the family. At 16, she married Salman Dalaly, a businessman, and had three kids– Samhar, Rudaina, and Sheila. After they moved to America in 1971, she had Christin a few years later. Their family of 6 lived in Southfield, Michigan, in the same home for 51 years. Nadira liked being close to Mother of God where she attended every single week in the same pew since it was built; she appreciated Father Manuel Boji's masses and homilies; she liked going to bingo at the church hall and to the the casino for fun; and she liked to cook, bake, and garden. Most of all, she enjoyed the company of her kids and grandkids whom she taught Soureth to, like Cassidy, who spoke it fluently with her. She was well-loved and respected by the Dalaly family, with whom she spent much time. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards her family, friends, and even strangers. She was 84 years old. Nadira was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Hanna and Narmi Dalaly, and her husband; she is survived by her son Samhar and his daughter Olivia; her daughter Rudaina; her daughter Sheila (Ronnie) Orow, and their children Luke, Collin, and Brandon; and her daughter Christin (Ivan) Ory, and their children, Cassidy, Ashton, and Scarlett. She is also survived by her siblings Amira (the late Hanna) Kassab, Firial (the late Karim) Al-Attar, Amir (Khalida) Kassab, Suhama (the late Ghazi) Marogi, and Kamelia (George) Matti; her sister-in-law Suad Dalaly; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen
