Obituary

Pablo Jose was born on October 7, 1943 to Pablo and Maria Paulino in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He followed his sister, Josefina and brother-in-law Freddy to Kitchener, Ontario Canada in 1962, where he finished high school at St. Jerome's Catholic High School. In 1963, they moved here to Detroit, where he began college at Wayne State University. He transferred to the University of Detroit and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1970. After a brief stint working for Ford Motor Company, he began a career at the Equitable Life Insurance Company on August 1, 1971 until he retired in 1992. It was here that he found great success winning numerous awards, including Man of the Year, a Centurion Award Winner and reaching the pinnacle of the Hall of Fame. It was also at the Equitable, where he developed life-long friendships that he cherished greatly.

While attending Wayne State, he met the love of his life, Bettye Fay Eskridge. They dated for 4 years before marrying on August 1, 1970 at Gesu Catholic Church. On April 6, 1977, Pablo and Bettye welcomed their daughter, Jocelyn Maria and the 3 Musketeers were born. Pablo loved being with his wife and daughter, traveling, eating great food, and spending time with their large extended family and circle of friends.

As someone who was deeply interested in world religions and spirituality, his study lead him to the auspicious meeting of Dr. Carolyne "Ezeese" Fuqua in 1984. With her as his spiritual teacher, he began studying A Course in Miracles and Egyptian Mysticism. These studies took him on adventures around the world with a like-minded community that filled his heart with joy. Pablo had the great and distinguished honor of being an Horus Award winner for his lasting contributions to Detroit and the global Circles of Light community.

Pablo is survived by his wife of 52 years Bettye, daughter Jocelyn, sister Josefina (Freddy), brother Andres (Carmen), Nieces Josie Sosa Roth (Mark), Jackie Sosa Pages (Sergio), Edith Paulino Cruz (Josue), Nephews Fred Sosa (Carmen), Tony Sosa (Carrie), Julio Sosa (Julie), and John Paul Sosa (Kimberly), as well as a host of great-nephews and nieces, as well as countless extended family and friends.

Special Thanks: Dr. Carolyne "Ezeese" Fuqua, Catherine Freeman, Deirdre Renee Brown, Renee Harp, Sosa Family, Detroit COLM, COLM, MOMS, OM5, and all of our family and friends that have loved and supported us.
