On behalf of the Kirma family, the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the beloved Deacon Salim Kirma, we would like to thank you all for your continued thoughts, prayers, love and support.

Baba Salim was a loving father to his children and a compassionate husband to his wife Tawitha. He loved his family and friends and would always go that extra mile for them. He was humble, giving, hard-working, genuine, and passionate to say the least.
Baba Salim was devoted to his church, Mother of God. For nearly 35 years, he has served his church as a Shepard of God. Everybody knew him as "Shamasha Salim". He never missed a Sunday mass, and always attended funeral masses for those he knew and those he didn't know. Baba Salim was lucky enough to witness the ordinations of the many priests in our clergy. More importantly His daughter Maser Philip being ordained as Mother Superior, and Bishop Francis being ordained as our new Bishop. His pride and joy, was his daughter Maser Philip. Having let his daughter go to serve the work of our Lord, in the hardship of Iraq, Baba Salim never let a morning or night go by without hearing her voice. Now, there won't be any more phone calls to answer. And heartbreaking as it is, Maser Philip is not present to witness the funeral of her beloved father.
Everybody who knew Baba Salim knew him as the man who constantly gave away candy and treats to people, those he knew and even strangers. His pockets were always full with candy to pass out to people. He touched the lives of so many. He would always put others before himself.
Whenever he arrived somewhere, his presence would immediately brighten up the room. Baba Salim and Yuma Tawitha were more than just husband and wife. Being married nearly 70 years, they were best friends and partners for life. Baba Salim would always say "eela gyanee b'gawekh, ewin b'yasha talekh". Baba Salim and Yuma Tawitha truly had the definition of unconditional, never-ending, everlasting love. Even after almost 70 years of marriage, their love grew stronger each and everyday.
Baba Salim loved spending quality time with his family telling us stories about how life was back home. He always told us how hard he worked for his family to give them a life that they deserved. Baba Salim never quit working for his family, and continued to do more and more just to see that smile on their faces.
There are not enough words to describe the wonderful man Baba Salim truly was. If you want to know the type of man Baba Salim was, ask the person standing next to you how he touched their lives. All you have to say is "Shamasha Salim" and everyone knew what kind of man he was.
Albert Einstein once said, "our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life." So let us celebrate Baba Salim's life and continue his legacy. Thank you Baba. we love you, and we will all miss you.
