It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of
the beloved Samira Goria Akash.

Samira Akash has joined the Lord in heaven on June 29, 2021. Samira, as many knew her, was not just an aunt, but was a loyal friend, a confidant, a sister, and a mother-like figure to all of her nieces and nephews (and grand nieces and grand nephews) and many other family members. Samira bravely battled ovarian cancer for over 10 years; she was a fierce warrior that never missed a party, get together, hosting a lunch, or cooking for us even through her extensive chemo treatments. She carried herself with grace, where many wouldn't know she had been battling this terrible disease. Samira was our encyclopedia - she remembered every birth date of every person that we were related to - the modern day Facebook birthday reminder! She never hesitated to pick up the phone and call and wish you a happy birthday, happy anniversary or just check in. All loved to hear the memories and funny stories she would tell. If there was ever a question regarding the family history, she was the first to get a call to set the facts straight. Samira attended the University of Baghdad, obtained her degree and worked at the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Iraq as an Archivist. She will now be joining her late parents Goria and Wareena, late sisters Madelyn and Balkis, and her late brother Adel. Samira is survived by her siblings Sabri, Amel, Paulus, Akash, Munther, Imad, Moaid, Adnan, Ihsan and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Samira will be missed.
