Steve Garmo, 52, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 surrounded by his family. He is the son of the late Ibrahim and Hayat Garmo. Steve is survived by his wife Vilda, his sons, Jacob and Nathaniel and his daughter Jasmine. He is also survived by his brothers, Khalil, Frank, Marshal, Marco, Tom, Robert, Freddy and his sister Nora Sheena.

Steve was an Attorney practicing in Immigration Law for over 25 years. Steve received many awards for Super Lawyers as well as many awards for Top Lawyer in Immigration Law. He was an active member of the Chaldean Community and did many charitable campaigns to assist his community. Steve liked to hike and play golf but his best attribute was helping and assisting others in need. Steve helped in writing legislation to help the many Iraqi Refugees that suffered in their home country. He was a pioneer and ambassador to the Chaldean Community at large.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, June 13, 2014, at Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church located on 25585 Berg Road in Southfield, MI.

Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located on 25800 W. 10 Mile Road in Southfield, MI. Lunch will take place after the cemetery at the Regency Manor Hall.

The family will receive friends at Regency Manor Hall located on 25228 W. 12 Mile Road in Southfield, MI from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
