IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Suad Batool
Gorial
November 20, 1937 – May 27, 2012
With hearts full of love and longing, we remember Suad Batool Gorial , a most radiant soul who entered eternal life on May 27, 2012, at the age of 74.
Born on November 20, 1937, in Iraq to the beloved late Sliwa Shaba Chika and Helena Marcus Asmaro, Suad lived a life devoted to faith and family. Her love and grace left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
Suad was the beloved wife of Lazar Hanna Gorial and a devoted mother to Luma Gorial, Olivia Gorial, Samer (Rita) Gorial, John Gorial, and May Gorial.
She was a cherished grandmother to Jeremy Gabbara, Shay Gabbara, Tyler Gabbara, and Kaylee Gorial. Her family was the heart of her world, and she filled their lives with warmth, joy, and unwavering love.
She deeply treasured her siblings. Suad is survived by her sister Samira Zaim and now joins in eternal rest her beloved siblings: Jamil Shaba, Jousef Shaba, and Najat Namy.
A woman of deep and living faith, Suad was a devout Catholic who embodied Christ's teachings in both word and deed. She was especially devoted to Our Blessed Mother Mary, faithfully praying the daily Rosary and spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, presenting her heart before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Suad served faithfully for several years as the Religious Education Director at St. Joseph Chaldean Catholic Church, where she helped form generations of young disciples through Catechism and First Communion classes.
Her faith also led her on pilgrimages to holy sites, including Rome, where she was elated to see Pope John Paul II. Her love of the Church and her deep devotion to Christ illuminated her entire life.
Suad had a remarkable creative spirit. She was a gifted designer and seamstress, lovingly crafting everything from her sisters' First Communion dresses to her daughter's wedding gown and all the bridesmaids' dresses. Her talents later extended to tailoring First Communion gowns and holy garments for her students.
She delighted in the arts, classical music, and theatre. Her favorite musicians included the legendary Um Kalthoum and Fayrouz. A free spirit, she loved to dance and act, and even performed in community plays.
Her healthy, nourishing cooking was unmatched, with every dish she served seasoned with her secret ingredient: love. Her children and grandchildren will especially never forget her dolma and kooba hamuth—always returning for second and third helpings.
Her sense of style and elegance was admired by many, yet she carried herself with grace and humility.
She enjoyed life's simple pleasures: anything dark chocolate, the occasional Burger King Whopper, scenic drives up north to Caseville, dipping her feet in the canal, sipping chai on the porch swing, and in later years, her daily Turkish coffee ritual with her beloved husband.
Suad was filled with Christ's light. She radiated joy, gentleness, and wisdom. She was nurturing, patient, and loyal—a true matriarch who held her family together with love and grace. Her presence was a comfort to all—always available to listen, console, and pray.
Her legacy lives on through the faith and love she shared with her family, her children, her grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched.
She will forever be missed, and her memory will be forever cherished.
Prayer for Suad Gorial
Lord, welcome into Thy presence
Thy daughter, Suad,
whom Thou hast called from this life.
Release her from all her sins,
bless her with eternal light and peace,
raise her up to live forever with all
Thy saints in the glory of the Resurrection.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon Her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.
May her soul and the souls of all
the faithful departed, through the
mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
