Obituary

Dear Family and Friends,

We regret to inform you of the loss of Waddi Zaia Yaldo Kakos, who passed away on April 9, 2020. She was 98 years old.
Waddi was preceded in death by her parents, Zaia and Wareena Yaldo, and husband, Shamasha Hanna Namou Kakos.
Waddi was the wonderful wife of the late Shamasha Hanna Namou Kakos and the beloved mother to ten children: the late Nouri (Nadwa) Kakos; the late Geolette (the late George) Yaldoo; George (Ekhlas) Kakos; Sam (Janan) Kakos; Suaad (Kakos) Kakos; Jamal (Lillian) Kakos; Janan (Husam) Abbu; Suzie (Brent) Compton; the late Saad Kakos; and the late Patrick Kakos.
The loving grandmother to an already substantial 52 grandchildren, Waddi was also blessed with the privilege of 68 great-grandchildren and, remarkably, even 9 great-great-grandchildren. She also had 4 sisters (the late Maroosh Hannosh, the late Khokhi Mary, the late Shoshi Abbu, and Mary Jarbo) countless cousins, and myriad friends, a testament to her heartwarming, loving, and genuine personality.
An extraordinarily pious and dedicated Catholic, Waddi and her husband Hanna, along with their children, immigrated to the United States in June 1969, in search of not merely a better life and more opportunity, but more importantly, the ability to practice her Catholic faith freely, peacefully, and unequivocally.
Waddi's love for Jesus and the Mass (she was a daily attendee for virtually all of her life) was instilled in her children, grandchildren, and all ensuing generations. Her diminutive stature belied her grand presence, big heart, and monumental faith.
Waddi had a smile on her face nearly every day she lived, hardly complained, and rarely succumbed to worry or concern, attributes that all emanated directly from her unshakeable trust in God.
She lived a model life that clearly showed her love for Jesus and complete confidence in His power, She strongly held a firm belief that God's Will for her was always best. It was this unshakable faith that enabled her to weather some of life's greatest storms. The devastating and tragic loss of two of her children, the losses of other close loved ones, and spending a life-time caring for those in need.
Waddi had a particular closeness to our Blessed Mother, whose faith in the face of unspeakable tragedy allowed her to persevere. Waddi always held rosary beads.  She was known to recite prayers endlessly, often insisting that her loved ones join her in prayer. She prayed in every line, she prayed in every lobby she sat, she prayed endlessly and encouraged others to pray with her.
Waddi was active for many years at Mar Addai, as one of the foremost members of the groups Legions of Mary, the Sacred of Heart of Jesus, and Group of St. Dominic. In her later years, she could often be found at any of Mother of God's Masses, where her flawless soureth, memorization of entire liturgies and hymns, and devotion to the Eucharist were on full display.
Waddi Kakos was a firm believer that all human beings were her spiritual siblings.
She enjoyed when people would gather in prayer and comfort.  She often hosted family meals and invited friends and family over for dinner.  Her quick wit and terrific sense of humor did not detract from her more serious moments, where she dispensed profound and inspirational wisdom to all of her loved ones whenever they sought it.
Waddi also loved spending time with her grand children. She was known to produce a feast on-demand when any of the grand-or-great grand-children visited. She would use those times to encourage the kids to pursue their spiritual and educational vocations to the best of their abilities.  She made sure they were either praying or studying at all times.
Waddi will be deeply missed by all who knew her or were touched by her, but her lasting impact will remain with us all, forever reminding us to always trust in God's Will, maintain our faith, and remain joyful regardless of the circumstances.

Rest in eternal peace dear Yuma.
