It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved brother Wasif Shammamy.

Beloved son of the late Razzouk Yousif Shammamy and the late Jamila Daiza Shammamy.

Loving brother to Tariq (Kathy) Shaw, the late Majid (the late Patricia) Shamamy, Iptisam (Fuad) Binno,
Nayil Shammamy, Jane Shamamy, and Susan (Richard) McCormick.

Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Wasif was born on May 14, 1945 in Baghdad, Iraq. Raised in a family who valued higher education, he excelled as a student at Baghdad College, an academic high school, and received a scholarship to the University of Illinois to study engineering. Wasif had a brilliant mind and was considered to be the smartest of his siblings. He had worked as an engineering draftsman for some time and helped his family in the grocery and retail family business.Wasif was a man of few words, but he loved being around family, especially on holidays, and we loved his company. We hope he is now at peace with our Father in heaven and with our mom, dad, and brother. Wasif, we love you. Delight in a family hug with mom, dad and Majid….until we we are all together again.
