No one knew her except a few, but those who did, truly loved her and were touched by her kind and gentle soul. Born in Beijing, China on December 14 1969, Yi Li (affectionately known by family and friends as Mei) was the youngest beloved daughter in her family. As a child, Mei was known for being exceptionally talented and curious, exceling in painting, writing, Chinese calligraphy and Ancient Chinese literature. So much so that she could dictate more than 100 Chinese poems at age four years old and while in high school, her articles were often published in the school journal. Her exceptionalness carried into adulthood and led her to receive a law degree and build a successful career working in a government corporate firm. To further satisfy her curious nature and explore more of the world, she moved to the US in 1996, and decided to pursue a new career. After receiving her MBA from Wayne State University, where she met her loving husband of 18 years, Avery (AiFuLi), she took an IT course and discovered a new passion that led to 10 years of success in the industry. She was known by everyone that she worked with as being both quiet and kind. In addition to be extremely driven she also was a free-spirit who enjoyed life. In her free time, she greatly enjoyed experimenting with delicious recipes, spending time with her family, being active outdoors, traveling (especially to Mexico) and working on crafts, such as soap making, ceramics, and painting. As a member of the Metro Detroit Chinese Alliance Church, she accepted Jesus as her Savior, and her faith was very important to her. Surrounded by her family and loved ones, the Lord called Mei home on November 3, 2019, following a longstanding battle with ovarian cancer. Although she was preceded in death by her beloved father, Shuzeng Li, her memories will continue to live on in the lives of all those whom she touched and her family including: her husband Avery, her mother Yufen Yang, her siblings Xun Li, Xiaogang Ye, Yang Li, Kaixia Sui, her nieces Patricia and Yasmin, her nephews Chade and Eddie, and dearest cousin Zhang Yan, and her step-daughter Holly.
